To the Political Commissar of the Eastern Front Operations Army, and through him to all officers and soldiers: Your brave comrades on the Eastern Front have routed the tenacious Enemy 19th Route Army. This victory demonstrates that the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army has grown yet stronger and more invincible, posing a grave threat to the imperialist Kuomintang as it prepares for its fifth “encirclement and suppression” campaign. It marks the beginning of the defeat of the enemy’s fifth “encirclement and suppression,” and we are deeply gratified to hear of it. At this historic juncture, when revolution and counter-revolution are locked in a decisive struggle, the Central Government of the Chinese Soviet Republic is organizing and leading the national Red Army and the tens of millions of working-class, peasant, and toiling masses in the fight to break through the enemy’s five “encirclement and suppression” campaigns and secure a Soviet China. We are confident that you, our valiant fighters, will, under this great mission, summon even greater courage, press forward to destroy more enemies, and achieve still greater and more glorious victories.
