1. The following order has been received from Commander-in-chief Zhu and
Political Commissar Mao of the Front Army:

2. In accordance with orders, the army group will concentrate its forces at its
present location tomorrow (the 5th) and await the opportunity to go out and
attack the enemy.
3. The Third Army is to post sentries on the main road in Houzishi (Shipailing) and in the direction of Datuopu and Huilongpu.
The Twelfth Army is to post sentries on the minor road in Houzishi and in the
direction of Shimapu.
The Fourth Army is to post sentries in the direction of Guitang and the minor
roads in Xujiachong. The right wing is to make sure to establish contact with the
Third Army Group's Fifth Army.
4. If the enemy does not come out and attack tomorrow, the army group is to
rest for a day in accordance with orders.
5. We are now at the position of General Headquarters in Baitianpu.

Addendum:
1. Each army's wounded soldiers should be carried and transported by members of the Red Guard teams assigned by the aforementioned front army to each
army to take responsibility for this.
2. Each sentry unit should send agents beyond the security line, and before
dawn they should send out a screen of agents to scout ahead for 5 li.
3. The location of this general command headquarters is the location of the
Front Army's General Headquarters. It is indicated at night by the suspension of
three red lanterns in front of it.

1. According to the scouts' report, the Duan Xing brigade of the enemy's
Nineteenth Division advanced to the other side of the river facing Yijiawan at
3:00 P.M. yesterday (the 4th); the [part of the] Chen Guangzhong brigade routed
by our army retreated to the other side of the river facing Datuopu and
Huilongpu; and the [part of the] Chen Guangzhong brigade routed by our Fourth
Army retreated to the other side of the river facing Dapu and Huilongpu. All of
them gave the appearance of intending to make a secret crossing and launch an
attack on us from the flank and rear. The remnant forces of He Jian's troops that
retreated in defeat to the city of Changsha also have the intention of coming out
and attacking along the main road between Huangtuling and Dongjingpu.
2. The Front Army has decided first to lure out and destroy these enemy
forces who are coming out by two routes to attack, and then to take advantage of
victory and fight our way into Changsha.
3. The First Army Group is to be responsible for destroying the enemy that is
coming to attack by making a secret crossing along the line of Datuopu and
Yijiawan. Tomorrow morning (the 6th) they must advance from their present
location to the area southeast of the Zhujialing and Tianxinqiao line, and await
an opportunity to annihilate the enemy along the Datuopu and Yijiawan line.
4. The Third Army Group is to take charge of destroying the enemy that is
coming out to attack from the two routes of the city of Changsha and Dongshan.
By dusk tomorrow it should seize the opportunity to transfer its entire force
(including the Sixteenth Army) to Tongrentang, Baimaotang, Panshiba,
Banzhuyu, and all the way to the area on the eastern edge of Zhujialing, and
make sure to establish contact with the First Army Group's troops near Zhujialing, the Twelfth Army.
5. The Hunan Red Guard Army should move to the line between
Dongsigang, Luzhiling and Zhentoushi, and is to be in charge of transportation
in the rear as well as pinning down the enemy in Dongshan.
