I. The enemy’s overall disposition, as set forth in Chiang Kai-shek’s order of August 11, has been recorded separately. At Longgang there are the Fifth Division’s Fourth Regiment and the Fifty-Fourth Division’s Eleventh Regiment (which engaged our forces yesterday). Together with the routed units of the Forty-Seventh and Fifty-Fourth Divisions that fought us yesterday—their respective Eleventh Regiments—this amounts to a total of eight enemy regiments. The Chiang and Cai forces at Chongxian and Fangtai, the Zhao Guantao force at Jiangbeidong in Xingguo, and the Sun Lianzhong force at Qingtang and Gulonggang are all advancing rapidly toward our troops; however, they will not reach Longgang until tomorrow, the 9th.

II. Our army is resolved to annihilate the enemy at Longgang with all our strength.

The disposition for the attack on Longgang is as follows: The Third Army Group and the Seventh Army will form the left wing, bivouacking tonight at Lanshi, and will assault the northwestern sector of Longgang. The Third Army will constitute the right wing, bivouacking tonight at Xiaobie, and will attack the northeastern sector of Longgang. The Fourth Army will occupy the center, bivouacking tonight at Biaohu, and will lead the assault on the southern sector of Longgang. The Eleventh Army will be held in general reserve behind the Fourth Army, bivouacking tonight near Biaohu. All units are to launch their coordinated attack at 4:00 a.m. tomorrow, the 9th, and must conclude the battle before 11:00 a.m.
