The Front Army has decided to sweep across the enemy’s left wing, annihilating Zhang Huizhan’s forces as well as the divisions commanded by Xu, Gong, and Luo. Meanwhile, Tan Daoyuan’s unit remains stalled around Yuantou, Shangxiachao, and Shupi, making no progress. Mao Bingwen’s two regiments, which had entered Dongshao, have moved to Luokou; their vanguard reached Pingtian last night, while the movements of their rear echelons remain unclear—apparently they are advancing toward Ningdu. Zhang Huizhan’s force, having passed Shanhe and Tengtian to reach TanTou, is now pressing toward Shanggu and Longgang, though the disposition of Xu’s division is unknown. The Gong and Luo divisions are deployed in Donggu, Nanlong, Fengbian, Futian, and Pitou.

The Second Front Army has resolved to alter its objective: to sweep across the enemy currently on our left—the Zhang Huizhan force—and subsequently to destroy the divisions under Xu, Gong, and Luo in sequence. To this end, we will divide our forces into two columns: the left column will advance along Junbu and Longgang, while the right column will move via Shanggu and TanTou toward Donggu, launching successive attacks as we advance.

The Third Corps and the Fourth Army will constitute the left column, placed under the unified command of the Third Corps’ leadership. They are to attack Shanggu and Xiagu along the Zhaixia route; upon securing these positions, they are to push slightly farther toward Donggu. Units should commence movement from their present locations tomorrow, formulating their own marching plans and submitting them for approval. The Third Army and the Eleventh Army will serve as the right column, operating under their respective commanders and advancing along Junbu to strike at Longgang, then proceeding to Nanlong. After eliminating the enemy there, they are to advance a short distance toward Donggu. Detailed marching plans for the right column, originating from their current positions, are to be drawn up separately and submitted separately. The Political Work Corps of the Central Revolutionary Military Commission will leave its Fourth Company behind in Huangpi, placing it under the direction of the Field Committee to contain enemy forces in the eastern sector.

All baggage trains and non-combat units of the entire Front Army will be brought under the command of Chen Zongshi, Chief of Staff of the Third Corps Headquarters, and will follow the left column. Each unit is permitted to carry only its rations and essential personal gear. The Fourth Company of the Political Work Corps will provide cover for the movement of the baggage trains, reporting directly to Chief of Staff Chen. Medical teams accompanying each unit are to march with their respective formations. The General Command will also follow the left column.

The Right Column is to coordinate with the Left Column in destroying the enemy at Longgang and maintaining vigilance in the direction of Shaxi. The Right Column’s rearguard should keep watch for enemy activity coming from Yuantou and Shupi.

3. All important documents belonging to regiments and companies are to be consolidated at the division headquarters.

4. Each army’s political department must dispatch half of its personnel to accompany the troops into combat zones, while the other half will travel with the baggage trains between Nanlong and Longgang, supporting the Left Column’s assault on Longgang and its efforts to guard against enemy threats in Nanlong.

Issued by Commander-in-Chief Zhu De and Political Commissar Mao Zedong.
