Inscription for the Army Flag[1]

(1927)

The flag opens to victory;

The horse arrives at success.

[1] On September 9, 1927, the Liuyang Uprising broke out along the Hunan-Jiangxi border. To strengthen propaganda and morale-boosting efforts for the insurrectionary army, Mao Zedong, with inventive ingenuity, personally inscribed this couplet on the flag of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army.

The First Division of the First Army of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army

In September 1927, Mao Zedong, serving as the Special Commissioner of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Front Enemy Committee for the Autumn Harvest Uprising under the Hunan Provincial Committee, traveled to Anyuan to plan the Autumn Harvest Uprising and decided to formally establish the First Division of the First Army of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army. The image shows the first flag of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army, designed and produced by He Changgong in accordance with Mao Zedong's requirements.
