1927 May 31: The Chinese Revolution is part of the world revolution. In the past, this was merely an empty slogan; but at today’s welcome meeting, it has been given concrete substance. The international imperialists, in their bid to suppress the Chinese Revolution, instigated the First World War. It was the workers along the Pacific coast who first raised the banner of revolt against that brutal slaughter. The Chinese peasantry, for its part, must now unite even more closely and follow in their wake, waging a life-and-death struggle. The peasant movement in China is a crucial force in the revolutionary process. Above all, it must advance hand in hand with the working class worldwide, relying heavily on the influence and guidance of the workers’ movement—proof that the working class is by nature the natural leader of the peasantry. Today, as the Chinese peasantry receives guidance from the leaders of the international proletariat, the benefits to the future of the revolution are truly limitless.
