Propaganda against the Left is naturally the duty of this newspaper. For if it did not carry out propaganda attacking the Left, it could not qualify as a right-wing organ, could not claim credit before the Shanghai Municipal Council and Duan Qirui in Beijing so that they would recognize its counter-revolutionary status, and could not achieve its reactionary aims. We find the reactionary stance of the Shanghai *Republic Daily* entirely logical. This proves the strength of the Kuomintang Left, proves the development of China’s anti-imperialist and anti-warlord movement, proves that China’s revolutionary and counter-revolutionary factions have reached the point of hand-to-hand combat, and proves that the success of China’s National Revolution is fast approaching. In China today, all neutral individuals and neutral newspapers are bound to rapidly change their stance—either moving leftward to join the revolutionary faction or moving rightward to join the counter-revolutionary faction. The formerly grey mask of neutrality can no longer be worn. Understanding this point, we can understand why the Shanghai *Republic Daily* has turned reactionary, why newspapers such as *Chen Bao* and *Xingshi Weekly* have recently attacked the Kuomintang and the Communist Party with unprecedented intensity, and why the leaders of the Kuomintang Right must convene a meeting in Beijing at this time to oppose the Central Executive Committee and the National Government led by the Left in Guangzhou. Regarding the handling of the Shanghai *Republic Daily*, the Central Executive Committee of the Kuomintang has resolved to dispatch personnel to investigate and deal with it, and to issue a circular telegram to party headquarters at all levels in various regions, denouncing the newspaper’s reactionary and absurd conduct. The text of the telegram is recorded below:

Distributed to No. 8 Cuihua Hutong, Beijing, and forwarded to party headquarters in Zhili, Shandong, Henan, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Chahar, Suiyuan, Rehe, and Harbin. To the Jiangsu Provincial Party Headquarters at Yongjili, Wangzhi Road, Shanghai; the Zhejiang Provincial Party Headquarters in Hangzhou; the Hunan Provincial Party Headquarters in Changsha; the Jiangxi Provincial Party Headquarters in Nanchang; the Hubei Provincial Party Headquarters in Wuchang; the Sichuan Provincial Party Headquarters in Chongqing; the Fujian Provincial Party Headquarters in Xiamen; the Guangxi Provincial Party Headquarters in Nanning; the Guangdong Provincial Party Headquarters in Guangzhou, and forwarded to party headquarters at all levels, newspaper offices in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, and Hankou, party headquarters overseas, and all comrades for their information: The Shanghai *Republic Daily* has recently been seized by reactionary elements. Its discourse is absurd and gravely contrary to the Party’s principles. Personnel have been dispatched to investigate and deal with it. This is hereby communicated.

The Beijing Right-Wing Conference and Imperialism

(December 20, 1925)

Imperialism bitterly hates the Guangzhou Central Executive Committee of the Left-Wing Kuomintang for serving as the national command center of the anti-imperialist movement, causing all imperialists to tremble in fear; the Beijing Right-Wing Conference resolved to suspend the functions and powers of the Guangzhou Central Executive Committee. Imperialism bitterly hates the Political Committee of the Kuomintang for its ability to concentrate power, direct the Guangdong-Hong Kong strike, and eliminate its various useful tools—Yang Ximin, Liu Zhenhuan, Liang Hongkai, Zheng Runqi, Mo Xiong, Wei Bangping, Chen Jiongming, Lin Hu, Hong Zhaolin, Deng Benyin, Xiong Kewu; the Beijing Right-Wing Conference resolved to abolish the Political Committee. Imperialism bitterly hates the Left-Wing Kuomintang leader Wang Jingwei for his ability to lead the National Revolution in a life-and-death struggle against imperialism; the Beijing Right-Wing Conference resolved to expel Wang Jingwei from the Party. Imperialism bitterly hates Soviet Russia for assisting the Kuomintang and the National Government in employing Russian advisers, thereby increasing the strength of the attack on imperialism; the Beijing Right-Wing Conference resolved to dismiss the Russian adviser Borodin. Imperialism bitterly hates the Kuomintang’s inclusion of Communist Party members, which adds a main force to the anti-imperialist struggle; the Beijing Right-Wing Conference resolved to expel Li Dazhao, Tan Pingshan, and others from the Party. From this, we can see what work the Beijing Right-Wing Conference has done on behalf of imperialism.
