That's What Bolshevization Has Always Been
(December 13, 1925)

Morning Post dispatch, dateline Beijing, November 23: "The diplomatic corps
has received detailed reports from Guangdong that although the ideology of
Chiang Kaishek manifests Bolshevization, he cares for the people, while on the
other hand, when the troops of the anti-Communist forces of Chen, Lin, Hong,¹
and others reach a locality, they are guilty of many Communist activities."
Bolshevization has always meant caring for the people. If Bolshevization meant
appropriating for personal use, how could it have spread throughout all of China!

6. Zhu Shen (1879-1943) was an important Anfu clique politician who ended his life as

1. Lin Hu and Hong Zhaolin were both subordinates of Chen Jiongming. On Lin, see
above, the note to Mao's editorial of October 20, 1925. Hong Zhaolin, a native of Hunan,
was a powerful commander, widely regarded as corrupt. He had, in fact, been assassinated
on December 7, 1925.
