Brother Qiuren[1]:

You mentioned sending two circulars, but I have only received the first one. Please send the second one promptly. The detailed rules[2] have been received. The eighth issue of The Pioneer[3] has also arrived. The reorganization here[4] can be completed within two weeks, and I will report further then. The Hengyang S.Y.[5] now has over fifty members, all of whom are good. The secretary is Qin Beiping[6], and correspondence should be forwarded via "Zhao Nan[7] at the Sales Department of the Third Normal School in Hengyang." The program, constitution[8], and other important resolutions adopted at the congress, in addition to being published in The Pioneer, should be promptly printed into pamphlets and sent to Changsha

[1] Qiuren, i.e., Zhang Qiuren. Joined the Communist Party of China in early 1922 and worked in the central organs of the Youth League. In the autumn of the same year, at Mao Zedong's invitation, he went to Hunan and was recommended to teach English at the Hunan Provincial Third Normal School in Hengyang, where he guided the work of the Party and Youth League.

[3] The Pioneer, referring to the central organ journal of the Socialist Youth League of China, The Pioneer. The journal was founded on January 15, 1922, and ceased publication on August 15 of the following year, with a total of 25 issues.

[5] Hengyang S.Y., i.e., the Hengyang Socialist Youth League, founded on May 1, 1922. S.Y. is the abbreviation for Socialist Youth League.

[6] Qin Beiping, an alias of Huang Hejun, who was then a Chinese language teacher at the Hunan Provincial Third Normal School.

[7] Zhao Nan, then served as the chairman of the Labor Movement Committee of the Hengyang Local Youth League and was in charge of the new books and periodicals sales department at the Third Normal School.

[8] Refers to the program and constitution adopted at the First National Congress of the Socialist Youth League of China in May 1922.
