Notes

[1] This piece does not bear the author’s name. According to Yi Lirong’s recollection on June 7, 1987, both the “Notice” and the “Statement” in Xiangjiang Review were drafted by Mao Zedong. The original title was “Notice of This Newspaper.” The present title and punctuation have been added by the editors of this book.

[2] This notice appeared consecutively from the inaugural issue to No. 4 of Xiangjiang Review. In the “Notice of This Newspaper” in No. 4, the third clause was amended to read: “This newspaper also sells Beijing’s Weekly Review.”
