A Miscellaneous Poem: The Joy of Tilling the Fields
(1907)
The joy of tilling the fields,
Every day there is work to do.
Near the gully, a mound of fields,
Near the water, another mound in view,
Over many years, the side produce fills the granary to the full.
When farm work is done,
Reading is most fragrant and sweet,
Sitting and awaiting the right moment to take one’s own stand.
