Dear comrade!

I sent you through Inessa copies of 2 letters of mine to *Pravda*. I hope you fulfilled my request and today (on Sunday) or tomorrow sent them back to me by express.

After Tuesday (I am reading here on Tuesday evening) I will send you a copy of letter No. 3*. Then, I think, it will be easy for us to come to an agreement on tactics.

Lunacharsky wrote to me, proposing a "conference." I replied: I agree to speak personally with you (with Lunacharsky). (He will be in Zurich.) As for a conference, I agree only on the condition of warning the workers against Chkheidze's wavering. He (Lunacharsky) said nothing.

So let us limit ourselves to a personal conversation.

Chkheidze is clearly wavering: compare *Le Temps* of March 22 praising Chkheidze; March 24 attacking Chkheidze.

The picture is clear!!

Therefore I am somewhat afraid that you hurried in drawing up a general resolution (I sent it today to *Pravda* together with my article to the address: Herrn Furstenberg. Boulevard Hotel. Kristiania. You can send articles here, stipulating that the articles are for *Pravda* and that I gave the address; it would be useful to coordinate with you beforehand on principled articles).

*Pravda* probably needs articles. I, at any rate, am writing and advising all comrades to write.

I am afraid that you are hurrying and seeking to unite with the "Vperedists."

In your resolution the ending is good (I only managed to glance through it hurriedly: I had to send it off), but the beginning (about democracy in general) seemed to me very bad.

Regarding union with *Vpered*. I sent a telegram to Scandinavia to members of our party departing:
"Our tactics: absolute distrust, no support for the new government, Kerensky especially suspect, armament of the proletariat the sole guarantee, immediate elections to the Petrograd duma, no rapprochement with other parties"*.

The last is a sine qua non condition**.

We do not trust Chkheidze.

Our deputies and Kamenev are already in Petrograd or will arrive soon. The Central Committee is in Petrograd (excerpts from its manifesto were in the *Frankfurter Zeitung*, charming!), *Pravda* exists.

We are for the preservation of this party absolutely, against any mergers with the Old Committee.
