Dear Comrade Kamenir!

Your recent conversation with me has caused me great concern. I have spoken with a very knowledgeable and experienced doctor whom I have every reason to trust completely and who has had the opportunity to learn from your attending physicians about your actual state of health.

I have thus learned with absolute certainty that your situation is not at all hopeless. Your illness is entirely curable. Therefore I most urgently advise you to take yourself in hand, abandon all dark thoughts, not allow yourself to indulge in hypochondria, and patiently undergo treatment. You will surely recover if you obey.

Moreover, you must recover, because revolutionaries who know English well and understand the American movement, and who besides have the ability to read Russian and German, are very few. Such workers are especially needed and must take especially good care of themselves.

So undergo treatment patiently — and you will surely recover.

All the best! Your Lenin
