Such a state of affairs within bourgeois societies and the constantly intensifying mutual rivalry of these in the
world market make it increasingly difficult to sell goods produced in ever-increasing
quantities.
Overproduction, causing more or less acute industrial crises,
followed by more or less prolonged periods of industrial
stagnation, is the inevitable consequence of the growth of the productive forces in the absence of planning
characterizing commodity production, and inherent in present-day society
capitalist production relations.
9. Crises and periods of industrial stagnation, in turn,
make the situation of small producers even more difficult, further increase the dependence of small producers, further increase the dependence of wage labor on
capital, even faster leading to a relative, and in some
localities to an absolute deterioration of the situation of the working
and exploited masses.
10. But as these contradictions grow and unfold, inherent in the capitalist mode of production, so also grows the discontent of the working and exploited masses with the existing order of things, its struggle intensifies —
and first of all the struggle of its advanced representative — the proletariat, — with the defenders of this order,
and at the same time, by the very process of improving technology,
increasingly uniting the labor of workers in large enterprises, ever faster and faster creating the material
possibility of eliminating capitalist production relations
and replacing them with socialist ones *).
11. International Social Democracy stands at the head of the liberation movement of the working and exploited masses.
It organizes its fighting forces, exposes to it the irreconcilable opposition of the interests of the exploiters to the interests of the exploited and clarifies to it the historical significance and necessary conditions of that social revolution that
