Comrade Karl Radek

9/X. 10.

Dear Comrade! I intended to respond to the articles by Martov and Trotsky with a large article on the essence of the matter in "Neue Zeit". But it turned out differently. You published a very good statement, and Comrade Karsky, even before I wrote to Kautsky and Wurm about my intention, provided an article against Martov** for "Neue Zeit". Wurm sent me Karsky's article, and I agreed to limit myself to this article.

However, I cannot leave without a response the incredible absurdities and distortions of Martov and Trotsky. I already have about a third or half of my article ready. The topic is: "The Historical Significance of the Intra-Party Struggle in Russia"***. Please advise: is it possible and advisable to place this article in "Leipziger Volkszeitung"?

If the answer to this question depends on whether my article will be liked by the editorial board, then, of course, I am willing to submit the article to you without any conditions.

I would be very grateful if you could let me know something about this now. For example, I would like to know if you can place several feuilletons on this topic in the "Leipziger Volkszeitung"? How long can the article be at maximum? And also:

To G. L. Shklovsky. 14 OCTOBER 1910

I cannot write in German, but I write in Russian; can you arrange for a translation in Leipzig - or is this inconvenient or difficult for you, and I will have to find a translator here (which I, of course, will most likely be able to do) - or, finally, I will write in my very poor German (a sample of which is in this letter), and in Leipzig they will translate from poor German into good German. (Once a friend told me that it is easier to translate into German from good Russian than from poor German.)
With best wishes.

Yours, N. Lenin
