Comrade H. Gorter
Dear Comrade Gorter!

Comrade Radek showed me your letter.

It would undoubtedly be very good if we could establish an international S.-D. journal under the editorship of Pannekoek. We must fight against the vile manner in which "Neue Zeit" defends the worst kind of opportunism with sophisms.

The question is only whether we will have enough money and literary forces to immediately establish the journal?

If not, then we must definitely, without waiting for the end of the war, publish one (or two) pamphlets in German. The pamphlet should consist of articles by Russian, Dutch, German (Radek), French (perhaps Mergheim), English (perhaps Rothstein) comrades, who consider it necessary to wage the most ruthless struggle against the traitorous opportunists (including Kautsky).

In my opinion, we must not delay this undertaking under any circumstances. It is necessary now, during the war, to tell the whole truth—of course, not in Germany, but in Switzerland, so as to be able to speak about the revolutionary struggle freely, without censorship.

If it is not possible to find a French or English collaborator at once—do not wait; it is better to publish the first pamphlet ourselves (i.e., without the French and English). We can make do with a translation of Mergheim's opinion (namely, that speaking of a "liberating war" is a deception).

Radek says that your pamphlet has come out in English. This makes me very happy: now I will be able to read and understand everything. I understand Dutch approximately 30-40%. I congratulate you on your

excellent attacks on opportunism and Kautsky. Trotsky's main mistake is that he does not attack this gang.

With heartfelt greetings.
