Dear Comrade! I am sending you *Vorwarts* 196 and Kamenev's article. The latter, in my view, must be published and immediately, because we are already terribly behind with this article, which is absolutely necessary in all respects for *Proletarii*. We will have to divide it into 2 feuilletons. The first I have marked (pp. 1-33) and corrected. Perhaps you will manage to cut it down further? I am prepared to try to cut it down more in the proofreading: send it immediately to typesetting and have them send the proofs to me at once. This is an important article, and it requires more careful work.

It is annoying that Kamenev works carelessly. It is a grateful theme—but he rambles, scatters his fire, goes round and round, and cannot properly grasp the center and essence of the matter.

Should we not send him the 2nd half for revision in this sense? That would be good! Write to him on behalf of us both, that we ask him to rewrite the 2nd part anew (preserving the 1st version)—changes in the indicated spirit—that then he will get an excellent article, etc.—and send him the 2nd part. There is not much hope that he will rework it, but we must insist and insist.

He promised a few days ago to send an editorial for *Proletarii*. We shall see.

I will write articles for *Proletarii* and send them directly to typesetting 197—since you want to be in Paris by 4.IX.

I do not intend to return before 15.IX.

You are wrong to keep Kamenev in Arcachon. If he has rested, let him return, and by all means he must be sent off with reports.

I shake your hand. N. Lenin

I will not undertake to analyze the Bundists. But it is necessary to attack their No. 2. Do this yourself. We will put out a large fighting issue. Write an article against No. 2 198.
