Comrade Kamenev!

On Friday evening Comrade Krzhizhanovsky informed me that Comrade Pyatakov by mistake pushed through a military budget several tens of trillions of rubles greater than what had been agreed upon.

TO K. K. RADEK. NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 1922

Yesterday I learned that you were unable to correct this mistake in the SNK. According to your words, you propose for now to leave it as is. Having thought the matter through, I find this course extremely dangerous and unreliable, and in principle incorrect and in all respects inconvenient.

I propose that we meet today itself, on Monday, either from 1 to 2 o'clock, or from 6 to 7, together with Stalin (Zinoviev and Molotov) and agree upon convening the Politburo, which I think should happen today itself.

We must at once annul the decision of the Council of People's Commissars and express censure of Pyatakov. Otherwise we shall become entangled for a long time; I very much apologize for my (belated) proposal, but I cannot act otherwise.

I am sending a copy to Comrade Stalin.

With comradely greetings, Lenin
