LENINIST COLLECTION
1) the liberal big bourgeoisie; 2) the radical petty bourgeoisie; 3) the proletariat. The first is fighting for no more than a constitutional monarchy; the second for a democratic republic; the third for a socialist revolution. Mixing the petty-bourgeois struggle for a complete democratic revolution with the proletarian struggle for a socialist revolution threatens the socialist with political collapse. This warning of Marx is quite correct. But the slogan "revolutionary communes" is precisely wrong for this reason, for the communes known in history mixed precisely the democratic and the socialist revolution. On the contrary, our slogan: the revolutionary democratic dictatorship of the proletariat and the peasantry fully guarantees against this error. While recognizing unconditionally the bourgeois character of the revolution, incapable of directly going beyond the framework of only a democratic revolution, our slogan pushes forward this, this given, revolution, - strives to give this revolution the forms most advantageous to the proletariat, - strives, consequently], to the greatest use of the democratic revolution for the purposes of the most successful [and] further struggle of the proletariat for socialism.
