I request you to review and have translated into English in the most courteous expressions my response (make minor corrections yourself; let's discuss any major ones). Type it on my letterhead and send it to me for signature.

Dear Mr. Macdonald!

I am extremely grateful for your kind letter and for your very flattering assessment of the reception you received. I have heard from Comrade Krasin a very high evaluation of your outstanding role and exceptional abilities in matters of industry and trade. This makes me value even more your practical proposal in this area. I deeply regret that my illness prevents me from receiving you, as the doctors have forbidden me from any conversation. I will consider it a pleasant duty to write a letter to Comrades Chicherin and Lezhava, asking them to pay special attention and appoint the best experts for the quickest and most competent examination of your proposals, which are of great importance and deep interest to us.

I hope you will be so kind as to excuse the delay in my reply, caused by my illness, and I ask you to accept assurances of my deep respect, your obedient servant.
