Dear Comrades! I heartily thank you for the
plaid you sent me; I find it excellent. I greatly regret that I could not
receive Shorov.
Best greetings!
Yours, V. Ulyanov (Lenin)

* This refers to the census of Soviet employees in Moscow.
* * This note was written during one of the sessions of the Council of People's Commissars, after V. I. Lenin's return to work in October 1922.
Regarding this note, L. A. Fotieva reported: "Vladimir Ilyich retained his habit of exchanging notes during sessions even after his illness. Having learned from the doctors that such simultaneous engagement in several tasks is many times more tiring than normal work, we once tried to prevent him from doing this, having agreed with the comrades that they would pass their replies to Vladimir Ilyich's notes not to him personally, but to the secretary, who would give them to Vladimir Ilyich after the session. Receiving no replies, Vladimir Ilyich wrote this note to me."

Dear and deeply respected Vladimir Ilyich!

The Petrograd Textile Trust, on its anniversary, together with its
warm greetings, sends you a plaid, made at one of its factories.
Petrotekstil wants you, our dear one, to feel from
our modest gift, along with physical warmth, also that working-class heartfelt
warmth with which we wish to envelop you, and also to note
that in conditions of extreme wear and tear, devastation, shortages and crises
we work no worse than before the war, and consequently can achieve
whatever we want.
Wear it, our dear one, to good health.
