1N.N.Krestinsky responded to Lenin's telegram on March 2, 1922: "In view of the receipt of your telegram, I asked the doctor today whether we can hope that Rykov will soon increase his weight to 70 kilograms. The doctor replied that with Rykov's character this would probably never happen. 70 kilograms is a normal weight corresponding to Rykov's height. But if he reaches 60 kilograms, it will be a very good state of health. It would only be possible to achieve more if one were to specially fatten him for two months without allowing him to move, and then when he started working and moving, he would very quickly lose this artificially acquired excess weight.

Therefore, if Rykov returns from Baden in good health, and the professors will not object to his trip to Russia, I will not obstruct him, despite your telegram today" (Izvestia of the CPSU Central Committee, 1989, N 4, p. 166). Krestinsky also reported that Rykov was going to leave for Russia around March 15.
