31/I

т. To Molotov for the members of the Politbyuro

I ask you to consider my yesterday's letter regarding Chicherin's letter as annulled. I felt unwell. Wrote vaguely. Hoped to correct it today.

But today I feel even worse.

I'd like to discuss whether or not (1) postpone Chichary n's reply until Thursday, (2) decide on Thursday only: let Chicheryn and all other members of the delegation think over their proposals and different combinations of solutions by 22-23/II, (3) it is necessary to appoint responsible persons for the preparation of financial matters (loan and so on and so forth) of the Genoa Conference by 22-23/II.1*

Lenin.

Notes by members of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the RCP(b)

The question is put to the Politbyuro on 2/II. V. Molotov

Read. L.Kamenev.

In favor of Lenin's proposal, i.e., to postpone the matter until Thursday. Against Trotsky's proposal about Rakovsky.

Stalin.

I join Stalin. M. Kalinin.

1*The third paragraph L.B.Kamenev crossed out and marked: "This is especially important. L.K.".

On February 11, 1922 V.I.Lenin wrote and sent to V.M.Molotov for discussion of the members of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the RCP(b) directives to the deputy chairman and members of the RSFSR delegation at the Genoa Conference (see: Lenin V.I. Complete Works, vol. 44, pp. 374-376), which, apparently, on February 2 were accepted by the members of the Politburo by telephone poll. In the minutes of the Politburo for February 3 it is recorded: Listened: "On negotiations with Genoa (Proposal of Lenin)". Resolved: "To accept." (RCCHIDNI, f. 17, op. 3, d. 260, l. 1).
