Dear Vladimir Ilyich, I am still energetically pursuing electrification. My intellectual orientation has clearly shifted from you toward Krzhizhanovsky: this is no mere pamphlet in the notorious vein of “productionist propaganda,” but rather a more substantial work that comprehensively addresses not only the questions of “the economy of the transitional period” and the “New Economic Policy,” but also other related issues. In return, you will receive a truly practical guide for Party schools and for our lecturers… I must see you when you are in Moscow—just as usual, for five minutes—to give myself a little push forward. As a shrewd exploiter, you know full well how to boost productivity.

I warmly shake your hand. Thank you for assigning me such a task.

I. Skvortsov
Reply:

1) The Comrade advises against writing about Kunov at this time; instead, one should consult Vladimir Ilyich regarding any work that bears on real life.

2) Until the book is completed, there shall be no talk of vacation.
