20/VII [1921] Lenin
1 V. I. Lenin asked that a response be given regarding the possible entry into Soviet Russia of Beatty Bessie, an American writer who had approached Lenin with a plea for assistance in securing permission to travel to Russia.
Having arrived in Russia in 1917, Beatty became a firsthand witness to the events of the October Revolution. In 1918 and 1921, she met with Lenin. Her book, “The Red Heart of Russia,” was written with deep sympathy for the revolutionary masses.
