OF WORKERS OF THE PROKHOROVSKAYA MANUFACTORY, DEDICATED TO THE CELEBRATION OF THE FOURTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE OCTOBER REVOLUTION, NOVEMBER 6, 1921.
BRIEF NEWSPAPER REPORT
(The entire hall rises to its feet. Long, sustained applause.) Looking back over the past four years, we see that no proletariat in the world—save the Russian—has achieved complete victory over the bourgeoisie. If we have succeeded in doing so, it is only because the peasants and workers understood that they were fighting for their own land and for their own power. The war against Denikin, Wrangel, and Kolchak was the first in history in which the toiling masses successfully confronted their oppressors. The second reason for our victory lies in the fact that the Entente could not commit a sufficient number of troops loyal to itself against Russia, since the soldiers of France and the sailors of England were unwilling to go and oppress their own brethren.
Four years have brought us the realization of an unprecedented miracle: a hungry, weak, and partially ruined country has defeated its enemies—the mighty capitalist powers.
We have secured for ourselves an unprecedented, utterly unforeseen, firm international position. Now, a colossal task still remains: to reorganize the national economy. Everything we have accomplished demonstrates that we are relying on the most miraculous force in the world—the strength of the workers and peasants. This gives us confidence that we will greet the next anniversary under the banner of victory on the front of labor.
