1The acting representative of the RSFSR in Germany, S.I.Brodovsky, sent a telegram to V.I.Lenin on October 14, 1921, in which he informed him that G.Y.Sokolnikov was recovering after a serious operation, but that he needed treatment for 4-6 weeks according to the doctors' appointment and that a detailed report from the doctor of the RSFSR representation in Germany would be sent by courier. On the telegram Lenin wrote an order to the secretary: "Remind me when this report will arrive" (RCCHIDNI, f. 2, op. 1, d. 24655). However, at a meeting of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the RCP(b) on October 14, at the suggestion of Stalin Sokolnikov was appointed chairman of the Turkestan Bureau of the Central Committee of the RCP(b) and the Commission on Turkestan Affairs (RCCHIDNI, f. 17, op. 3, d. 215, l. 2). Before Sokolnikov's return to Russia, A.A. Ioffe was appointed chairman of both institutions.
