Secretary of Pravda
24. IX. 1921
"Pravda" has begun to print reports on collections by foreign workers to help the starving in Russia.
We don't need such reports. Because it turns out as a story. And we don't have paper for "stories," we don't have time to read them. And it's of no use.
We need short tables twice a month according to the following model:
Germany — 10 million marks = about ( ) gold rubles
Austria — 10 » crowns — about ( ) gold rubles
And the total ----------- about ( ) gold rubles
This will be 20-30 lines 2 times a month.
Not much.
That's the only way we need it. The total in gold rubles. I very much ask you to carry this out and answer me.
With communist greetings. V. Ulyanov (Lenin).

[October 7, 1921]
LENIN'S QUESTION.
What about buying grain at 1 ruble 40 kopecks?
ANSWER OF P. I. RADCHENKO.
We must buy, which is what is being done.
Prices are 1 ruble 35—1 ruble 45 kopecks. NCVT is aware, comrade Frunkin is from us and "informed." According to our information, London is purchasing grain. Today it is important that the ()TO decide to release 20 million rubles in gold.
LENIN'S QUESTION.
Has it been put on the agenda?
1 The exchange of notes took place at a meeting of the STO when discussing the issue of purchasing grain abroad.
