1 The Commission for Improving the Living Conditions of Scientists, consisting of: M. N. Pokrovsky,
Ya. K. Gindin, P. I. Novitsky, A. B. Khalatov, N. A. Semashko and V. I.
Volgin, was appointed by the Council of People's Commissars on November 10, 1921. She was entrusted
to discuss the issue of awarding bonuses to the most outstanding and necessary
for the Republic workers in the field of science.
