NOTES TO SECRETARIES
NOTE ON A SECRETARY'S NOTE
February 4, 1921
Vladimir Ilyich, The former Nikolaevsky Institute is burning very
badly—the head of administration and almost the entire presidium
of the Moscow Soviet are at the fire; the children have been moved to another
location, which they have now started to heat.
The Moscow Soviet has supplied them with provisions.
They asked that you be informed of this.

Has it been reported to the
VChK and
MChK?
Report by telephone.
NOTES BY L. A. FOTIEVA
July 13, 1921

How many stenographers do we have now? Gribanova? Volo-
dicheva?
Anyone else?
Is it possible to arrange things so that I can dictate to them by telephone at certain hours, say, 12–2 and 8–10*.

Repeat the last name. (I thought it was Gribanova). Is she a
Communist?
I don’t yet know whether this will be needed daily. Let’s do it as an
experiment s o t h a t the stenographers d o n o t have t o
come separately .

Systematically collect information: where? when? did she serve?
did she work?
city? institution? whom did she know?
* V. I. Lenin was at Gorki at this time.
