June 4. Comrade Shklovskii! I have just spoken with Zelensky by telephone. My impression is that there is prejudice against you in Moscow, or someone's opposition, or something generally amiss, and that the matter will not work out. Formally, Zelensky said to me as follows: "Many of our leaders know Comrade Shklovskii. Personally, I consider it possible to provide him with a place on the collegium of the municipal department, however not in Feldman's position. Let Comrade Shklovskii come see me; we shall clarify the details and determine whether such a combination would be suitable." Zelensky's personal opinion, insofar as I could understand it, is more favorable to your candidacy (for membership in the collegium—which should be of the municipal department) than that of other influential Moscow figures. Decide whether to begin "from the beginning," as we spoke yesterday, or to attempt a meeting with Zelensky personally yourself.

Greetings! Lenin

**P.S.** I have just spoken with Dr. Okh about the Moscow telephone. Okh says that Feldman was planning to leave, but "they" convinced him not to do so.

From Molotov I have only the text of the Orgburo decision, which you already know. This is—nothing 361.
