Telegram of L.B.Krasin and M.M.Litvinov

To Chicherin. Moscow. Decipher personally

For Lenin: there is an opportunity to receive 1 million German rifles of the latest pattern. Two hundred1*(?) cartridges each. The shipment can probably be arranged by steamer to one of our northern ports. The price for the set is about two hundred marks, i.e. 10 gold rubles. I estimate the cost of shipment at about half a million gold rubles. The matter can be conducted only on the basis of the strictest conspiracy when you open a credit at my disposal here.

Telegraph me immediately if you are interested. In subsequent correspondence I will refer to these goods as chimney stacks.

May 18.

Krasin. Litvinov.

Lenin's note т. Trotsky, in my opinion, take 100,000 rifles + 2,000 patrons per rifle. We shall need them in Asia and resell them at a higher price.

Lenin.

Lenin's note

Gukovsky: 1.5 x 200 = 300 millions patrons
