MEMORANDUM TO G. V. CHICHERIN*

April 30, 1921

Comrade Chicherin!

Please hold on to it for a while. I don't need it.

With communist greetings
Lenin

P.S. It is inexcusable that you are not sending all such materials
earlier and more carefully. Give a piece of your mind to Martens and Klushke.

* G. V. Chicherin had written to V. I. Lenin: "The American book you sent is extremely interesting and valuable. It contains materials about which I knew absolutely nothing, for example: a collection of despatches by Francis and Robins from Moscow in 1918. The excerpts from the protocols of the Versailles conferences on the question of the Prinkipo are very interesting. Our materials and those concerning us are collected very intelligently and with great completeness. I shall try to obtain this book for myself from England. It is necessary to have it at hand for reference.

Do you need to return this copy soon, or can I keep it for some time?"

The reference is to the book: William Hard. Raymond Robins Own Story (William Hard. The Story of Himself of Raymond Robins), published in New York and London in 1920.

TO THE CENTRAL UNION

April 1921

Is it not possible to strengthen the supply of seed potatoes from abroad at the expense of military transport (such a directive exists from the Central Committee, approved yesterday)?

This must be done.

In March 620 military trains were transported (620!!!). Before planting, it would be possible to deliver 500 × 0.8 = 400,000 poods of seed potatoes.

Put pressure on this!

Lenin
