27. III. 1921

In addition to yesterday's conversation,
N. K.* resolutely defends Shapiro, and I agree with her, relying on her three-year close acquaintance with Shapiro at work. Moreover, I consider it extremely important that she points to dissatisfaction with Comrade Shapiro for his exactingness.

I have no objection to your participation in Glavpolitprosvet, since N. K. has no objection.

She is in favour of this.

My opinion: do not break away from organisational-administrative work. From you, and only from you, we will demand strictly and soon (in about 2-3 months): the results must be serious in terms of efficiency, accountability, verification of the work of 400,000 teachers, their organisation, their transition to new tracks. From you, and only from you, this will be demanded. All attention to this.

With communist greetings, Lenin
