NOTE TO L. M. KARAKHAN 1
[1920, later than June 24]
To Karakhan,
I request that you convey to Krassin:
Lenin asks that his belongings be transported from Paris to London, to your residence. Proceed with caution—better slow but sure than hasty and reckless.
1 Written on a telegram from L. B. Krassin, who had asked the People’s Commissar for Foreign Affairs, G. V. Chicherin, to inform Lenin that there was an opportunity to transfer Lenin’s party and personal archives from Paris to London; Krassin had requested guidance on how best to proceed. No records exist indicating whether Lenin’s request was fulfilled in 1920.
In 1923, Lenin’s party and personal archives were moved from Paris and handed over to N. K. Krupskaya at the V. I. Lenin Institute. It is possible that this refers to the very same archive.
