To the Main Administration of Coal Mines in Eastern Siberia, for the benefit of mine workers as well as their technical staff

Dear Comrades! I extend my heartfelt thanks for your greeting of August 2, 1920, which was conveyed to me by Comrade Ivan Yakovlevich Ilyin*. Our conversation with Comrade Ilyin regarding the energetic work being carried out at the Siberian mines—and his account of the gradual rise in the conscious discipline of the working class (which, from this point onward, labors not for capitalists but for itself)—filled me with immense joy.

What is especially precious in your greeting, comrades, are the sentiments of deepest confidence in the complete and final victory of Soviet power over landowners, capitalists, and all forms of exploiters, as well as the unwavering steadfastness and resoluteness to overcome every obstacle and difficulty. It is precisely in this steadfastness of the working, laboring masses that I—like every communist—draw my confidence in the inevitable worldwide triumph of the working class and the workers’ cause.

With communist greetings and wishes for the swiftest possible success, ever devoted to you,

V. Ulyanov (Lenin)
