The Politburo resolves: to express the harshest condemnation of the actions of Comrades Tukhachevsky and Smilga, who, without any legitimate authority to do so, issued a directive that was not merely tactless but actually undermined the policies of the Party and the government *.
The Politburo instructs the Revolutionary Military Council of the Russian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic to immediately revoke the order issued by the Revolutionary Military Council of the Western Front and to bring to the attention of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Western Front the erroneous nature of its actions ** 719.

* While instructing the Secretary to transmit this resolution of the Politburo via telegram to the Revolutionary Military Council of the Western Front, V. I. Lenin appended a note at the top of the document: “To Brikchyna for dispatching this telegram,” and below the text of the resolution he added: “Copies to Comrades Chicherin and Danishevsky.” Ed.
