Memo to M.I.Ulyanova

I think that Sergo (=Ordzhonikidze) is not capable of lying and that Serafimovich will have to identify himself and go to trial.

Instruction to the secretary

Serafimovich's letter to be returned to Maria Ilinichna (extracts to be chosen for Stalin).

Fond 2, op. 2, d. 1320, fol. 1-2 - autograph.

1 M.I.Ulyanova forwarded to Lenin a letter from A.S.Serafimovich dated July 29, 1920, which reported on the disreputable actions of G.K.Ordzhonikidze: "Ordzhonikidze has an iron hand, a fervent heart and the same exuberant, unable to gather the ends of the head and a complete lack of tact. All he exuberantly exchanged for trifles, and the gushing river of life of the peoples of the Caucasus goes past him, past the Soviet power" (RCCHIDNI, f. 2, op. 2, d. 1320, l. 5). Extracts were made from Serafimovich's letter, which Lenin sent to Ordzhonikidze with a request to answer: "what is true, what is not true" (Lenin V.I. Complete Collected Works, vol. 51, p. 269).

August 28, 1920. Ordzhonikidze returned the extracts to Lenin with his notes, a letter and a statement to the Revtribunal, the Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic, and the Central Committee of the RCP(b), completely denying Serafimovich's accusations. Upon receiving these documents, Lenin marked: "from Sergo an answer to the slanders" (RCCHIDNI, f. 2, op. 2, d. 1319).

Whether the case went to trial has not been established.
