Comrade Sergo! Inessa Armand is leaving today. I earnestly request that you not forget your promise.

You must telegraph to Kislovodsk and issue the necessary instructions to ensure that she and her son are properly accommodated—and then closely monitor the implementation of those instructions. Without proper oversight and verification, nothing will get done.

Please reply to me by letter; if possible, also send a telegram stating: “Received your letter; I will see that everything is carried out as planned and that proper oversight is established.”

Given the precarious situation in Kuban, I implore you to establish contact with Inessa Armand so that, should the need arise, she and her son can be evacuated in a timely manner to Petrovsk or Astrakhan—or, if her son is ill, they can be settled in the mountains near the Caspian coast—and in general, that every possible measure be taken.

Please keep me informed from time to time about developments concerning Persia and related matters.

You rarely provide updates.

Best regards! —Your Lenin
