RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF DEFENSE
MARCH 13, 1920
The Order of the People’s Commissariat for Railways dated March 6 of this year highlighted the following improvements that have taken place over the past month on the Moscow–Kazan Railway:
An increase in the number of wagons dispatched for loading.
A reduction in wagon idle time.
A 20% increase in the number of wagons delivered to Moscow carrying supplies.
A 25% increase in the transfer of firewood to the neighboring railway line.
A decrease in worker absenteeism.
An increase in locomotive output.
This is our first victory on the bloodless front—and in its most arduous sector: the realm of transportation.
At the very moment when transport was in utter disarray, operations on the railway not only did not decline but actually improved.
This victory proves, not in words but in deeds, that there is no difficulty so great that it cannot be overcome through persistent labor, conscious commitment, and firm resolve to fulfill one’s duty to the workers’ and peasants’ republic.
In duly recognizing this work worthy of emulation, the Council of Workers’ and Peasants’ Defense hereby expresses its gratitude to the workers, employees, administrative staff, and commissars serving on the Moscow–Kazan Railway.
Chairman of the Council of Defense
V. Ulyanov (Lenin)
