NOTES AND MARGINALIA ON THE REPORT OF THE
REVOLUTIONARY MILITARY COUNCIL OF THE WESTERN FRONT
February 23, 1920
Is this, precisely, the error?
Seems like there's nothing more to take from the Southwestern
Front?
...The Revolutionary Military Council of the Front believes that
the re- grouping of reserve divisions from the VII Army and
the freed-up forces from the VI Army, with a significant
gain in time, could be carried out to genuinely and promptly strengthen our P olish
Front, and the necessary strengthening of the Caucasus
Front could be carried out through re- groupings of troops from the Southwestern Front by shifting them to the left,
which would strengthen the Caucasus Front with several divi-extremely lengthy re-transfers rather
movements from the north via railroads of reserves, which, due to the blockage of routes in the south and the lack of
fuel, it seems, still have to move to the front line on foot...
Regardless of the necessity of directing reserves to the Western Front – must
NB
also be urgently given reinforcements, so as not to lose
the surviving combat-capable cadres of units, who have been
constantly in the battle line, because the reserve regiments
of the front and army have long been empty due to the absence of re-
plenishments...
To the Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic for the Commander-in-Chief on the topic of today's (February 23) conversation.
