NOTE TO A. D. TSYURUPA
July 3, 1919

Let's coordinate tomorrow; we’ll need to squeeze some time out of the Central Committee meeting.

Brief results of the improvement:
Over a year (30 million – 100 million), we’re now giving half (half Sukharevka). It’s tough, but better than 1918.

"Simbirsk Gubernia"—all hands to help the Commissariat of Food.

1. The note to People's Commissar of Food A.D. Tsyurupa was written in connection with his request to V.I. Lenin for time to discuss the upcoming speech on the food issue. The next day, July 4, 1919, a joint meeting of VTsIK, the Moscow Soviet of Workers' and Red Army Deputies, the All-Russian Central Council of Trade Unions, and representatives of factory committees of Moscow was held. At this meeting, V.I. Lenin delivered a report "On the Current Situation and Immediate Tasks of Soviet Power" (see Works, 4th ed., vol. 29, pp. 420–432). A.D. Tsyurupa spoke on the food situation.

2. This refers to the improvement in state grain procurement: from August 1, 1917, to August 1, 1918, 30 million poods of grain were procured, while from August 1, 1918, to May 1, 1919, 100 million poods were procured (see V.I. Lenin, Works, 4th ed., vol. 29, pp. 422, 481–483, 525–526).
