Note from F.E. Dzerzhinsky

Please read the enclosed note.1 I propose to take them with us to Petrograd and decide there—after familiarizing ourselves with the materials.

Krestinsky agrees.

Note from V.I. Lenin

I knew M.L. Sulimova in Petrograd in 1917 (that was when I first met her); she was a party member and hid me from Kerensky. Could you not first check, and then take her?2 I would like to talk with you before your departure.

When are you leaving?

1 It has not been possible to establish which documents F.E. Dzerzhinsky showed to V.I. Lenin.

2 This likely refers to the decision of the Small Council of People's Commissars on December 21, 1919, which, in discussing the expenditure budget of the People's Commissariat of Agriculture for the second half of 1919, resolved: "To arrest for one day at the Moscow Extraordinary Commission on the nearest Sunday [December 26—Ed.] the employees of the Commissariat of Agriculture, G.N. Kurochkin, under whose direction the said budget was prepared, and Sulimova, head of the Financial Department" (RGASPI, f. 2, op. 1, d. 12136, l. 2). At the meeting of the Small Council of People's Commissars on December 25, this point of the resolution from December 21 was rescinded.
