LETTER TO THE HEAD OF THE TORF COMMITTEE.
To the Main Torf Committee.
November 11, 1919
Regarding the report submitted for 1919:
1) It would be desirable
to publish the summary in “Economic Life” (and to send me one copy).
2) With an abundance of detailed tables—do not waste time on mere summaries:
— a comparison of production in 1918, 1919, and earlier years (number of days? percentage of machines in operation? etc.);
— a concise map—or perhaps a schematic diagram showing distances from railway stations?
— the conditions under which all machines were brought into operation?
— comparable data on production in relation to consumption (food and [manufactured] goods)?
Lenin.
1 On the reverse side of this letter is the following note by I. II. Radchenko, Chairman of the Main Peat Committee in 1919: “On November 11, 1919, at around noon, a report on the 1919 peat campaign was sent to Comrade Lenin. In response, that same day at 11 p.m., this reply was received.”
