To Comrade Pokrovsky

Comrade Pokrovsky! In my opinion, from the attached [document]¹ it follows: everything [should go] to the People's Commissariat for Education. Return it with your comments.

Yours, Lenin.

LENIN'S NOTES ON M. N. POKROVSKY'S NOTE

If there are Party comrades who are interested in library work and understand it, they should be brought into our library department, which suffers greatly precisely from the lack of our own people — but not to set up "Party" libraries parallel to "Soviet" ones.

LENIN'S REPLY

Agreed. Give a formal conclusion of the People's Commissar (or Deputy People's Commissar) on this question to the Central Committee (copy to me).

¹ Lenin refers to the draft sent to him for review by one of the library workers on the organization of a Central Party Library in Moscow.

M. N. Pokrovsky — Deputy People's Commissar for Education.
