Then report how much troops you can give to the Southern Front in the offensive that has begun with you, and when.

TELEGRAM TO THE REVOLUTIONARY MILITARY COUNCIL OF THE SOUTHERN FRONT *
October 21, 1919
They report the beginning of fraternization of Polish soldiers with ours. Check more accurately and report what measures you are taking to completely neutralize the deceivers or tricks of the enemy, so that completely useful people or commissars participate in the fraternization. Report everything known to you about the mood of the Polish soldiers.

TELEGRAM TO PROVINCIAL FOOD COMMITTEES
October 21, 1919
The reporting information received from the field on the procurement of oilseeds paints a dire picture in the near future for the supply of vegetable fats to the Red Army. Old stocks are exhausted. State oil mills are idle due to the complete absence of seeds in them. We propose that local food authorities pay the most serious attention to the procurement of oilseeds, and take all measures for intensified procurement along with other grains.

TO THE REVOLUTIONARY MILITARY COUNCIL OF THE REPUBLIC
October 22, 1919
I was somewhat "confused" by yesterday's demand from the Chairman of the Petrograd Soviet for new regiments. Is it true about the Estonians?
I still passed it on to Sklyansky, and an order to send troops from Tula (again from Tula!) has been given.
But taking more from the reserve of the Southern Front is not safe. Isn't it better to look in other places?
To finish with Yudenich (namely, to finish—to finish him off) is diabolically important to us. If the offensive has begun, can't we mobilize another 20,000 Petrograd workers and achieve a real mass pressure on Yudenich?
If there are 5-10 thousand good attacking troops (and you have them), then surely a city like Petrograd can give 30,000 after them, to help them. Chusosnabarm says that a lot of property has been "found" in Petrograd, there is bread, meat is coming in.
We need to finish with Yudenich quickly; then we will turn everything against Denikin.
Taking troops now from the Southern Front is, in my opinion, dangerous: an offensive has begun there, it needs to be expanded.

P. S. I have just learned from Sklyansky that the 2 regiments assigned to Petrograd have approached Kotlas. Let's speed up their movement.
New report: this is incorrect.

NOTE TO THE CHAIRMAN OF THE REVOLUTIONARY MILITARY COUNCIL OF THE REPUBLIC
October 22, 1919
In my opinion, Chicherin is right*. Has it been verified whether the Estonians
are fighting? Is there no deception here? Or aren't Estonians going with Yudenich?
* In a report addressed to Lenin, the People's Commissariat for Foreign Affairs objected to Trotsky's proposal to start a war against Estonia. "Yudenich will have to be pursued
on Estonian territory," the report stated, "only*
