October 15, 1919

Comrade Sklyansky, Cavalry radio stations, and also light mobile field
stations, of which there are large quantities in the stores of
the Central Military Engineers’ Board, are absolutely essential for the Southern Front. Give immediate
instructions for the urgent transfer to the Southern Front of 50
of each type. This is demanded by Stalin, who complains
very much of lack of communications.

Write me what exactly you have done, and incidentally order for me from the C.M.E.B. a brief summary of the total
number of radio stations they possess, and their distribution
among the forces.
