Following the capture of Red Hill, Grey Horse has been liquidated. The artillery on them is in complete order. A rapid inspection of all forts and fortresses is underway.

Naval specialists insist that the capture of Red Hill from the sea overturns naval science. I can only mourn what is called science. The rapid capture of the Hill is explained by the crudest interference on my part and generally by civilians in operational matters, reaching the point of annulling orders for the navy and army and imposing our own.

I consider it my duty to declare that I shall continue to act in this manner henceforth, notwithstanding all my reverence for science.
