Pre-revvoyensoviet to Trotsky

The Politburo of the Central Executive Committee fully supports the determination and approves of your plans. I would like to add that from Bakhmut Kamensky, Artem, Getsov complain about mobilization in Donbass, it is necessary to calm them down or subdue them, talk to them directly2.

On May 117, 1919 L.D.Trotsky sent a telegram to the Central Committee of the RCP(b) with information about the decision to remove V.A.Antonov-Ovseenko, N.I.Podvoisky and A.S.Bubnov from military work. He proposed to create a new Revolutionary Military Council of Ukraine or to abolish the Ukrainian Front, subordinating its eastern part to the Southern Front, but he was going to report more precise proposals after an exchange of opinions with local workers. Trotsky considered it necessary to "shift the center of attention to the Donetsk Basin", reported that L.B.Kamenev agreed with him and asked the Central Committee of the RCP(b) to support him in this matter (see: The Trotsky papers. 1917 - 1922. V. 1, p. 430-432). The published telegram was Lenin's reply to Trotsky's telegram. On the same day Trotsky sent Lenin the final decision after a meeting with A. A. Ioffe: "T. Ioffe has arrived. He considers, as we do, impossible the further retention of Antonov and Bubnov in Revvoensovetukr. The most correct solution seems to us the destruction of the front by separating the Western Army and concentrating all the forces of the Donbass. Trotsky" (Ibid., p. 432). The Politburo of the Central Committee of the RCP(b) answered him: "To 112/C we have no objection. Lenin. Stalin. Krestinsky" (RCCHIDNI, f. 2, op. 1, d. 9793). On the basis of the order of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic of June 4, the Ukrainian Front was disbanded; the management of the front was turned to the formation of the 12th Army of the Western Front, which included the 1st and 3rd Ukrainian Armies, The Ukrainian Army was left on the Southern Front and transformed into the 14th Army.

2Referring to the appeal of the Kharkov Glavugol to Lenin on May 16, 1919 with a request to exempt all miners from mobilization into the army, carried out under the directive of the Central Committee of the RCP(b) of May 8 (see doc. 176).
