[April 15, 1919]
In my view, you are unjustly offended by Garin—his vision is broad and far-reaching. I would advocate for his appointment to a rather high-ranking position, either in the military or in the political department attached to the army.
Lenin.
1 S. Garin, former Chairman of the Gelsing–Forsky Council of the Army and Navy, had written to Lenin expressing dissatisfaction with the manner in which he was being utilized as an operative. Lenin penned the note to Stasova, Secretary of the Central Committee, on the reverse side of Garin’s letter to him.
Above Garin’s letter, on the right, Lenin had written: “See reverse.”

TELEGRAM TO THE CRIMEAN SOVNARKOM
Sovnarkom, Simferopol
Alupka Executive Committee, Alupka
[Before May 26, 1919]
In Alupka, at 15 Primorskaya Street, the widow of the late geologist and scholar Mushketov—whose contributions to the study of Russian geology were immense—is being evicted from the dacha she has occupied for many years. If possible, I urge you to rescind the eviction order or to arrange for her to be provided with another, fully suitable dwelling.
Chairman of the Sovnarkom, Lepil.
1 D. I. Mushketov was a member of the Shale Committee and Director of the Mining Institute in Petrograd. In the spring of 1919, under Mushketov’s leadership, work had been initiated on the development of shale deposits, primarily in the vicinity of Weimar, along the Baltic Railway. However, as White Guard forces advanced toward Petrograd, these projects were brought to a temporary halt.

Dear Alexei Maksimyich!
Goodness gracious—you’ve clearly been lingering in Petrograd for far too long. It’s not good to stay in one place for too long; you grow weary and begin to feel bored. Won’t you agree to take a trip? We’ll make it happen.
Yours, Lenin.
